Hi everyone and welcome to my blog,

My name is Nadezda. I come from Russia and currently work for a language school there as a senior teacher. My main interests include teaching teenagers, preparing students for exams, and running teacher trainings. I juggle teacher, tutor and mentor roles and enjoy it. At school, I teach students aged 6 to 60+ and prepare them for a wide range of Cambridge exams, from YLE to IELTS. I observe lessons, give tons of feedback, check lesson plans, generate ideas and run workshops.

I'm in love with thoughtful CPD and have a number of Cambridge certificates which mark my progress. It all started with CAE in 2014 – language schools in Russia would love you to have one if you are not a native speaker. Then came CELTA Pass A, some TKT papers with a deeper look into CLIL, and – tada! – Delta. I'm still on my way, though, as I've done just Module 1. My Pass with Merit arrived not so much time ago.

I also write articles for a teachers community. To be honest, this blog was created as an attempt to share useful tips, book reviews, bits of methodology, and some freebies with my colleagues and fellow educators without being constrained by format or word limit. Everything you meet here is my reflections on the world of ELT.

My second foreign language is Italian, and that's true love. I sacrificed German at the University for this language and there was never a day when I regretted. I do teach Italian on and off to someone as passionate about it as I am. My calling is still teaching English, though. And I'm happy that we have this in common.

Apart from learning languages, I'm into writing (obviously), cooking and moderate amount of sport. My favourites are open water swimming, cycling and gym. I prefer tea to coffee, sea to mountains, evenings to mornings and rock to pop.

Make yourself at home!
